Kristin Thompson is a fabric artist from Ithaca NY and a member of the "Quilt Divas" (thequiltdivas.com) - an association of quilt & fabric artists from the Fingerlakes region of Upstate New York.
The Quilt Divas created an art quilt to benefit the "Dining for Women" charity (diningforwomen.org) - an organization of women helping women that donates funds to charities that empower women & girls throughout the developing world.
Kristin created a panel inspired by the "Rwanda Knits" (rwandaknits.org) program, which provides machines, technical, and business training to low-income Rwandan women so that they can increase their incomes through economically sustainable knitting cooperatives.
In this interview Kristin discusses why she chose "Rwanda Knits" as her inspiration, and how the "Rwanda Knits" mission influenced her artistic choices.
