This is the first in the 5 part series broadcast from July 2007 on BBC 1. It follows Chris Patten and his team and the wider people of Hong Kong during his tenure as Governor of Hong Kong from 1992 to 1997. The most interesting aspect of the series was a decision that the BBC agreed to not to broadcast until after the handover of the colony. This allowed all participants to speak freely in the knowledge that what they said would not sway or alter anything during the handover. It was a privilege to make. Fronted by Jonathan Dimbleby with whom I have worked on and off since the beginning of the 1980s. Episodes 2 to 5 are also to be found on my channel.
