Lisa Pedersen forages weeds from her backyard and is keen to share this knowledge to her friends and family. Pedersen considers this to be a free, traditional, and nutritious food source that our convenient lifestyles have overlooked. Much of this traditional knowledge was learned by pioneers from Canada's first nations but has sadly been lost today as our palettes become more and more accustomed to a steady diet of sugar and fat.
I spoke with Lisa In her backyard this past September in the bucolic setting of Desert Lake just north of Sydenham and she shared some of her ideas about foraging and her wonderful wild leek baked goods. Lisa is eager to give instruction to others interested in finding free food in their backyard check her blog for more info at ieatweeds.blogspot.ca
