Stitchers Teen Council members wrote and recorded Not Another One! as part of the Gun Violence Prevention and Awareness Initiative sponsored by the Institute of Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis. The song was premiered live September 17th at Steinberg Hall as part of the Artists' Panel for the exhibition Guns in the Hands of Artists, shown at the Des Lee Gallery, Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University, September 16-November 20, 2015. The song was written during Story Stitchers Saturday workshops with Teen Council under the direction of Collective artists including Mr. K.P. Dennis, Susan Colangelo and Waheed Abdul Muhaimin. Saturday Workshops with Teen Council are supported in part by the Regional Arts Commission. A demo was recorded at the Stitchers Storefront Studio and the finished recording was created in September at Sawhorse Studio in St. Louis by Toryon, Trevor, Taron and Juwuan. Stitchers Teen Council members Jaquan, Toryon,Taron, Trevor, Juwuan and Emeara recorded the video on site in Forest Park, Grand Center, on the Delmar Loop, on Page and at various other sites around the city and Jaquan and Susan edited the final version at the Stitchers Storefront Studio.
Saint Louis Story Stitchers will soon premiere a videotaped discussion in conjunction with this music video. This discussion, taped live on November 14, 2015 in the Des Lee Gallery, is called Not Another One! and shows teens, civic leaders and police in St. Louis seeking ways to work together to combat gun violence. The discussion was sponsored by the Institute for Public Health and will be made available through the internet to researchers and schools.
