“I feel that we are on a brink, where accounting will be very different from what it was in the past,” says Cindy Hovig from Beyond Balanced Books. And her partnership with Xero adds to this excitement. “Being able to marry technology and accounting is like a dream come true.”
The excitement has spread, as Cindy’s daughter – Rebekah Denney – is now part of Beyond Balanced Books.
“I’ve been enjoying learning on Xero and now I really enjoy bookkeeping – and I never really thought I would have,” says Rebekah.
Together, mother and daughter have fostered a successful practice – with equal input from both.
“I like working with young people, because they have fresh eyes with accounting. And they seem to have an ability to see what the future of accounting is,” says Cindy.
Case in point, in the past – Cindy could only visit so many clients in person per day. Not anymore. Today, Xero allows her to service multiple clients, from anywhere. And for Cindy, this is really only the beginning.
“This whole idea of real-time accounting appeals to the small business owner.” It’s a changing landscape and Beyond Balanced Books is ready. “Small businesses are actually asking for different things from the accounting and bookkeeping people in their lives. They don’t want to wait months to receive reports. They expect things and to be able to access things on their phone at any time … there are so many things that we’ve been able to do with Xero that really have changed our practice completely.”
