The mill of the family De Hulster - in Dutch: De Hulster's Molen - in Schoondijke is one of several old windmills in the Netherlands, which are kept open by volunteers in an effort to preserve this cultural heritage. It was built in 1884 and in commercial use until 1956. Today, it still offers limited service to local farmers. It is open to the public on two days of the week.
An old gentleman - the grandson of the last miller - provides a tour through the mill and explains the history and technical details with large enthusiasm. It is as fascinating as the light and atmosphere inside the old windmill.
The footage was used in most parts without any colour grading and was edited for the 'only 45 seconds' group of The Film Artist (great idea, TFA).
