Biel/Bienne Switzerland, City Space
21/08 - 22/08/2015
In the police authorized Body and Freedom Festival, Miru Kim presented a performance piece titled „Biel/Bienne dreaming” for which she was sleeping at the crossing of Nidaugasse and Neuengasse, for 6 hours at a time on both festival days.
Miru Kim is a New York-based artist and explorer. Her first photography series, “Naked City Spleen” takes place in urban ruins such as abandoned tunnels, factories, shipyards. For her second series, “The Pig That Therefore I Am,” she visited industrial hog farms and immersed herself amongst the pigs. Then “The Camel’s Way” follows her journey around the world, where she lived with desert nomads and walked with camels. The essence of her work always lies in the performative process.
