Urban Future Partnership Somerville/Boston:
Intelligent parking space management in Assembly Row
In Somerville, a city just seven minutes from Boston, a high-class urban neighborhood and commercial district on the waterfront is unfolding. This quarter, Assembly Row, is being built on a former industrial wasteland. Around 40 percent of the surface area within the Assembly Row project is dedicated to parking spaces. This is where Audi’s technologies come in. The Audi parking pilot is ready for market, and it creates scope for investors and urban planners. If a parking garage is planned exclusively for self-parking cars, according to Audi’s calculations 62 percent of the area – or 100 million dollars – theoretically could be saved in the Assembly Row project.
