Tuesday, August, 31, 2010, after a quick visit with my brother and sister in law, James and Jackie Kent, who have a home on the Gulf coast at Carrabelle, Florida, I took off from Carrabelle's airport, runway 23, just as it got dark. It was a beatiful night flight back to St. Augustine.
When I arrived my cell phone would not work. I saw a gentleman with two teenage boys shooting arrows in a target in the grass overrun at the end of the runway. I walked over and introduced myself and asked if I could use his cell phone. He was gracious enough to let me do so, allowing me to call my brother and let him know I was there. I came to find out he was the chief of police of Carrabelle, Mr. Joe Ham. Chief Ham was a big help. Without the use of his phone, Jimmy would not have known I was there. Thanks Chief Ham!
Carrabelle is a bit of heaven on earth. If you have never been there, you should visit it.
