Her favorite nickname is Dee Chan.
She is fifty-something living in middle America.
Her work and passion involve nurturing children
in various capacities, being an elementary principal, a mom, and a grandmother. Her journey is one of courage and of overcoming inertia as she moves to regain physical, emotional, and spiritual health. After a lifetime of over dependence on food as a comfort and a crutch, she found herself in a deplorable state of ill-health, self-hatred, and fear. She could no longer believe in her own immortality as she had in her youth, and she saw her years becoming shorter. At this point, Dee Chan made a brave decision to undergo
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery on June 23, 2010.
