Kaaterskill Falls, the largest waterfalls in New York State. The falls served as a playground and inspiration for Hudson River School painters such as Thomas Cole, the leaders of one of the first truly American art movements. His, along with the paintings of others popularized the area, turning the nearby village of Palenville into the country's first art colony. Today the falls are far from forgotten, but we are led to believe it is to dangerous to go up to them. I say screw that.
