JoAnn McGrath, her husband David and their 5 children have dedicated 25 years to charitable giving addressing the needs of kids and families primarily in Massachusetts and California. The Highland Street Foundation established as the charitable arm of the McGrath Families personal giving under Joannes leadership has made an indelible impact on the Coachella Valley.
Trained as a nurse, the most visible signs of JoAnn’s incredible philanthropy in the Coachella Valley are at Eisenhower Medical Center (EMC).
In all, JoAnn's gifts to EMC total more than $12.5 million. Major gifts for the Graduate Medical Education program, and the capital campaign to build the Annenberg Pavilion, the The JoAnn McGrath and Family Critical Care Center in the Annenberg Pavilion and the Emergency Dept Reception AREA named in her honor demonstrate her commitment to healthcare in our community.
Touching all corners of life in the Valley, her contributions and commitment of personal time to countless agencies and nonprofit organizations both large and small include being a Founder and million dollar challenge grant creator at the McCallum theater, a member on the boards of EMC, the EMC Foundation, and the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center and a contributor to the Palm Springs Art Museum, BIGHORN Behind A Miracle (BAM), Tools for Tomorrow, Jewish Family Services of the Desert, Alzheimer’s Association plus many many more.
A true visionary and leader in philanthropy wherever she goes, we’re honored to recognize her generosity and personal commitment to a better life for everyone.
