Gloria Greer, the mighty media dynamo we all know and love in the Coachella Valley uses her position as society editor of Palm Springs Life and as host of her own PBS television shows to constantly shine the spotlight on local charities for the benefit of all philanthropy in the desert.
Lesser known is Gloria’s personal passion and purpose behind ACT for MS. Founded in 1999, Gloria and a powerful group of local influencers created the organization to provide life-enriching programs free of charge.
Under her leadership, ACT for MS has grown from helping a dozen clients with multiple sclerosis to nearly 100 as she still plays a vital role chairing events and seeking financial support. ACT for MS has raised more than $5,000,000, which has directly benefited local residents with MS.
Gloria is credited with many philanthropic “firsts.” She and Merv Griffin created the Christmas Tree Lane fundraiser and with Zetta Castle, Gloria created ACT for MS’s Literary Salons in private homes.
In addition Gloria has assisted dozens of local organizations; as an original board member of the Friends of the Philharmonic, the founding president of Child Help USA’s local chapter and as Capital Campaign Committee member at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert.
Junior League of the Desert, the Palm Springs Air Museum, Palm Springs Cultural Commission, and Opera Showcase of the Desert have also been blessed by her commitment to causes benefiting the Coachella Valley. Thank you Gloria for your commitment to our Valley and for all that you do for the community.
CONGRATULATIONS GLORIA GREER, OUTSTANDING FOUNDER OF A COACHELLA VALLEY NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION.
