Although East Burra is only 800m from Shetland's Mainland, without a boat you'll need to travel nearly 10km by road over three bridges and two islands to reach it! In this short film we see the north part of the island with the Burra Bridge, Trondra and Scalloway in the distance and Cliff Sound to the east, with a light dusting of November snow on the Clift Hills.
Lying across the narrow Lang Sound is West Burra, the two islands connected by a tiny bridge (East and West Burra were connected long before the bridges to the Mainland were built). Here we take in some beautiful views of Bridge End lit by the low late November sun. On the horizon the mystic island of Foula can be seen, as well as parts of Shetland's West Mainland.
