Deputies and volunteers with the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station conducted extra patrols at the parking lot of a Target store in unincorporated El Cajon. They spoke to shoppers about locking their car doors, parking in well-lit areas and not leaving valuables in plain sight.
30 steering wheel locks were also give for free to shoppers who drive cars ranked as the most stolen in San Diego County.
