The Toronto Public Library in association with the Toronto Animated Image Society sponsor workshops as part of their Artist In the Library programme. Tuesday evening class participants were introduced to under-camera animation, a different type each week. The community had no experience and these exercises are the results of their introduction to sand animation.
While the conditions under which we shot (on site, existing light, tables that couldn't be easily stabilised, etc.) were less than ideal it was a lot of fun and everyone brought a lot of enthusiasm to the project.
We're very grateful to TPL, TAIS, and the Toronto Arts Council for funding this programme and making it possible to introduce the general public to DIY animation.
