The documentary analyses the condition of contemporary European small-scale fishery from the perspective of two small fishing communities of the Italian island of Lampedusa and of Gran Tarajal, in the Spanish island of Fuerteventura. Artisanal and small-scale fishing communities struggle to survive, squashed simultaneously by EU fishery legislation that triggers their livelihood on the one side, industrial fisheries’ overfishing on the other. A condition that is taken to an extreme on detached border territories of the EU such as the ones approached by this documentary.
