Busker Blog, Episode 4: Kia Cavallaro
Busk: to entertain by dancing, singing, or reciting on the street or in a public place.
"When I'm performing, especially on the street, I feel really free." - Kia Cavallaro
Kia regularly plays on Royal Street in the French Quarter. She arrived in New Orleans after hopping a freight train from Washington State, aiming for the Crescent City because she considers it to be the capital of music in America. We caught up with her on Royal on Monday, May 18, 2015, and discussed why she likes playing on the street, why New Orleans passerby are the best audiences, and and her attachment to the banjo.
