Juan Melendez was the 24th person to be released from death row in the state of Florida, and the 99th released nationwide.

Juan had a CCADP webpage proclaiming his innocence when he was still on Florida's death row.

Melendez spent 17 years on death row for a 1983 murder to which another man had repeatedly confessed - evidence prosecutors withheld.

He was finally released January 3, 2002.

The CCADP in conjunction with AIDWYC sponsored Juan Melendez visit to Toronto to speak at Metro Hall, March 5, 2005.
