My buddy Roy and I have finished climbing Washington’s 100 Highest Peaks and are now working on the Second Hundred. In mid-winter it is hard to find peaks we can get to but there are a few. One of these is Séance Peak (8067’), which lies west of Lake Chelan in the Chelan Sawtooth Mountains. We figure we can reach this peak by truck up the Twisp River, shifting to snowmobiles to get into the backcountry and then using skis to finally reach the peak. We have a number of mishaps before we finally get our objective on the third try.
