Stonewall with a T: Five Decades of Resilience in New York City, is the first documentary that chronicles transgender activism and visibility as a political movement - from the Stonewall riots to the present. It’s a film about liberation, civil rights and recognition.
The film provides a unique historical overview of the Trans community through politics, community building, activism and citizen journalism. It follows grassroots community leaders who have continued the legacy of pioneers like Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson; as well as many other fearless activists who have worked tirelessly to build a voice for the community. Our intention is to build a timeline of Transgender resilience in New York City and analyze how Transgender people are treated in politics, society and by media.
