Near the heart of Chinatown Square is a shop that has been owned by Chinese immigrants for nearly three decades.
In the shop you’ll find herbs and natural remedies to treat cough, headache, the flu, sinuses - the list goes on.
Nam Bac Hang is the name of this traditional Chinese medicine store. Long Huynh inherited the business from his father.
“Nam Bac Hang just means north and south,” Huynh said. “My dad wanted to say that the herbs are covered from north herbs and south herbs. Northern herbs it’s usually cold weather, they have different type(s) of herbs. In south it’s warmer, different kinds of herbs.”
Huynh’s father has since retired and only stops by the business to pick up a few things, Huynh said.
