As part of Children’s Arts & Healing and Urban Renew project, new solar light sculptures were installed at Children’s - Minneapolis. The sculptures, named the “Healing Stones” were commissioned by internationally known artist Brad Goldberg.
Goldberg says the sculptures “relate to the notion of ‘illumination’ in both the physical and metaphorical sense of the word. Thus, raw potential + energy = illumination, a value key to a more sustainable world and a powerful metaphor as related to the hospital, its mission, its people, and the care they provide so that all children can realize their potential in life.”
The Arts & Health and Urban Renewal Project is an opportunity to use architecture, landscaping, science and art to renew the surrounding urban neighborhood and transform the experience of Children’s patients and their families. The Healing Stones sculptures, funded by philanthropy, are located along Chicago Avenue outside Children’s Specialty Center and the new entrance to the hospital
