Highlighting the crucial role that humanities research plays in our relationship with the environment and contemporary environmental challenges, Arizona State University’s Institute for Humanities Research in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences produced the video “Value, Affect, Scale: Humanities for the Environment” in conjunction with the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes.
The video, which debuted in May 2010 at the consortium’s annual conference, focuses on three humanities research projects supported by seed grants from the Institute for Humanities Research. The video project was conceived by Sally Kitch, director of the institute and a Foundation Professor in women and gender studies, and Joni Adamson, an associate professor of English and environmental humanities, in an effort to provide a resource for other universities. It was produced by Kevin Sandler, an associate professor in film and media, and directed by Devin Berko, an undergraduate student in the W.P. Carey School of Business.
