Between War and Waiting tells the story of two brothers, who had to flee from Syria to save their lives. Rajai lives in a refugee camp in Zeist, The Netherlands, and is waiting to see his brother in Germany. Fares arrived one month ago and was given a place to stay near Hamburg. He filmed his life-threatening journey to Europe with his mobile camera. This material and several interview sequences build a documentary told in three chapters that will make you see the refugee crisis in another perspective. What does it mean to leave your family behind in a country of civil war? How does it feel to be a refugee in a foreign country and how does a future look like?
