Lotte Reiniger, The Sleeping Beauty (silhouette animation short film from 1954): Frames were counted in iMovie (30 fps), then calculated as rhythms within quarter = 75, and finally written down as a conventional musical score. Thus, the animation provides a rhythmical and metrical structure for the compositional work.
One frame comes out as 0,033 seconds, so three frames make 0,1 sec, which turn out to be one 32th note within that tempo. Through complex rhythmization and meter changes, any time point respective film frame can be expressed through traditional music notation.
Premiere performances: October 28, 2010, Nizhni Novgorod, and October 30, 2010, Moscow (Russia), GAM Ensemble.
