All places have a sound soul. Some environments express their sound soul through voids and silences, as if in the soundtrack to a film others with cacophony and dissonance. Other times the human presence pervades the atmosphere with the sounds of thoughtful and harmonious work. The manufacture of Parmigiani Fleurier is one of these atmosphere. It is a place where all the hands operate with sensitive gestures and these small movements generate sounds that reach the ear in the form of acoustic sensations. A constellation of sound fragments that if caught by the rhythm of time it creates emotion like music.
The music has been record with the actual sounds of the artisans at work in their different environments – filing the tiny parts of the watch movements, the hand polishers working on the cases, the drills working on bearings, etc. The Installation includes 4 cone-shaped speakers that oscillate back and forth from the ceiling. In addition, 24 individually motion activated speakers are positioned on the walls. The cones spread a constant sound in the environment, activating and layering one sound at a time. Each of the speakers on the side walls emits a unique sound when passed. The sum of the base sound emitted by the oscillating cones in the center and the speakers on the sides, compose a melody played in unison as a unique orchestra. At the end of the execution the wall speakers disactivate, one at a time, the sound from the cones remains. The music sheet lasts 6 minutes.

Tutti i luoghi hanno un'anima sonora. Alcuni esprimono ambienti dove suoni e silenzi si alternano come in una colonna sonora di un film. A volte sono altisonanti, rimbombanti o rumorosi. Altre volte la presenza umana pervade l'atmosfera con i suoni di un lavoro attento, riflessivo e armonico. La manifattura di Parmigiani Fleurier è uno di questi! É una dimensione dove le mani operano con gesti sensibili. Piccoli movimenti che generano rumori che arrivano all'orecchio sotto forma di sensazioni acustiche. Una costellazione di frammenti sonori che si espandono nell'ambiente fino a dissolversi, ma se catturati dal ritmo del tempo emozionano come la musica!
L’installazione è una scultura audio cinetica . Uno spettacolo dei sensi che mescolando suono, estetica, e movimento, riflette sull'anima sonora dei luoghi e sull'interazione acustica tra spazio e uomo.
E' composta da quattro trombe oscillanti che diffondono una base sonora e da 24 speakers posizionati sulle pareti che si attivano singolarmente. Al centro viene diffuso nell'ambiente un tappeto sonoro costante. Sulle pareti laterali vengono emessi suoni diversi uno per volta. La somma della base sonora centrale e di quella laterale compongono una melodia come un'unica orchestra. Progressivamente si disattivano i suoni laterali fino a lasciare nell'ambiente unicamente la base sonora delle trombe oscillanti. Tutti i suoni sono quelli originali della manifattura e dei maestri artigiani. Prima sono stati registrati con microfoni ambientali e direzionali, dopo sono stati elaborati in sonorità adatte a creare una composizione.
