In 2011 I got the opportunity to meet some special clients who hired me to design two houses at the same time. 138 Russel and Trout Lake cabin were a special time for me as I worked through the heart of the recession. I was so thankful to have the opportunity to work on both houses for the same client during the same time frame. There really was not a lot of building going on at that time in our community.
138 Russel was special to me because I felt like I had a real connection to the home. We transformed a rough property into a real gem. The design was really pretty easy, and the process was smooth because of the owner and contractor. I have always felt like the “Russel House” was like an NFL player who was drafted 7th round, but became a hall of famer. From the back row to the front row. This house has a very relaxing appeal and easy to understand floor plan. The sun and proximity to the golf course make this home warm and desirable. The close location to skiing and to the entrance of Mtn. Village make the house easy to use and access.
My favorite aspect of this home is the large glass windows and views.
The warm sun and direct south facing elevations make the house usable with low energy use.
Sincerely, Luke Trujillo AIA
