In May of 2010, the Mustard Seed Drama Club presented Oedipus Evolving, an adaptation of the classical Greek play by Sophocles – performed by members of Calgary’s homeless community as actors. The play was the result of a 6-week intensive rehearsal process at the downtown Seed location which brought in a group of local artists to collaborate with members of the homeless community to adapt, rehearse, and perform the play. Oedipus Evolving was co-produced by Verb Theatre and the Provincial Boom Commission Art Collective (The PBC) and was showcased at the Seed Ministry downtown and The Epcor Centre’s MOTEL theatre.
