The Novacut video editor will support video metadata extracted from the .THM files created by Canon HDSLR cameras.
This is important because it makes it easier to learn to shoot great video... try various apertures, shutter speeds, lenses, and then decide which works best by watching the videos and seeing these settings as you watch. It's also nice to browse through your library of clips based on the camera and/or lens used.
I didn't know whether the metadata represented the initial camera settings or the final, so I did this little experiment. Turns out it represents the *initial* settings.
If this sounds like a cool feature for a video editor, please spread the word about the Novacut project: novacut.com
