Social media is ubiquitous in 2015, however that doesn't mean it is accessible. Social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn provide an important service to the web community but accessibility still lags behind. Gian Wild will look at the use of social media across the world and in the US. She will then discuss the main accessibility problems with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Google+ and Flickr, including relevant testing. Gian will then discuss the five steps that people can take to ensure that the content released to social media networks are accessible, including providing alternatives, releasing to multiple networks and linking to accessible interfaces. Gian will discuss and show examples of accessible social media interfaces and how to use them to provide accessible social media content.
