My work with Jean Derome started many years ago when we made two films together for the National Film Board of Canada (“Liaisons” and “Rupture”).
Here’s the first one, “Liaisons” (please select the 1080p option for the best viewing experience, web conversion chews up my images mercilessly): nfb.ca/film/liaisons_fr
This take of “Machinalement” was brilliantly improvised by Jean Derome, filmed and recorded by Jean-Michel Dumas.
The process, taking place at the University of Montreal's "Elvis" studio (Music Faculty, "Institut Arts, Cultures et Technologies") gave birth to several takes, which eventually gave birth to many different films/variations (about 50).
My gratitude goes to Jean Piché who made this adventure possible, with the capable help of Jean-Michel Dumas.

Several versions of “Machinalement” have screened at various festivals all over the place, no doubt because of the brilliance of Jean Derome’s music.
Please see an album with several pieces done in collaboration with Jean Derome: With Jean Derome
We’ve also done live performances together: Live performances
