KNITSONIK presents...The Fabric of Oxford featuring The Sonic Wardrobe
Weaving personal stories, oral histories and field recordings together, The Fabric of Oxford celebrates history in a sonic tapestry of memories and textures.
The Fabric of Oxford has involved over 40 interviews with people ranging from under 10 to over 90 years old. Attire for belly dancing, graduating, celebrating 1st May, practicing Roller Derby and attending to horses on the common land in Oxford are among those explored by Knitsonik (aka Felicity Ford). This collective and diverse version of history offers a truly unique perspective on the city that has culminated in the creation of a Sonic Wardrobe.
In December 2015 Knitsonik unveiled the Sonic Wardrobe and gave a lecture-performance about her 9 month journey for The Fabric of Oxford, during a weekend of events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Museum of Oxford. You can watch a recording of the whole event online: youtube.com/watch?v=b8XYFm_22jQ
Knitsonik's Sonic Wardrobe was exhibited at the Museum of Oxford from Sat 16 Jan - Sat 20th Feb 2016.
The Fabric of Oxford was commissioned by the Museum of Oxford and produced by OCM.
