Christmas-it's become the season when we're preoccupied with gifts. What's the right gift for the person who has everything? What's the gift that will best show how much you treasure someone special? What's the gift at the top of your wish list? What are you hoping will be there waiting for you on Christmas morning?
For Christians, Advent is the season when we're preoccupied with anticipation also. It's a time when we celebrate God's ability to give "beyond all we can ask or imagine." In Christ, God gave us the most unexpected gift-Himself. We can see Him, know Him, and experience the benefits of His presence. In Christ, God demonstrated His great love for us and brought to earth blessings that even those who have "everything" long for-peace, joy, contentment, grace, forgiveness, hope, purpose.
As the angels said, "Unto you is born this day a Savior." Today, receive and celebrate God's great gift. Make a list of people who need Jesus. Pray for them. Ask God how He can use you to tell them the Good News. It's the greatest gift you can give them this year.
