Steve Zakuani is a professional soccer player, inspirational speaker, and author. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and raised in a low-‐income area of London, Steve began his soccer career playing for the Arsenal youth at 9 years old. He was selected first overall by the Seattle Sounders in the 2009 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, and was the team’s leading scorer in the 2010 season. In 2011, he suffered a devastating injury during a game, and although he made a remarkable recovery to play again.

Established in 2010, MLS soccer player Steve Zakuani, Kingdom Hope is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help and inspire individuals to become great achievers in all areas of life. Although we are based in Seattle, Washington, our team reaches people locally and globally through our programs – Rising Leaders, Cecile Zakuani Scholarship, Books on Us, Leaders in School, and Soccer on Us. We have a specific focus on education, sports and leadership.
