Roles of the Architect (TU Delft, Fall 2015): New Notion of Vernacularity.

The studios of both Roosengaarde and Jain (Studio Mumbai) became a space between practice, research and experiment, a laboratory for new ideas where the craftsmen are acting as designers and architects. The essence of the work of both studios lies in the relationship between landscape and architecture, negotiation between people and technology, creating dialogue between object and public. The way their studios operates could redefine our thinking about vernacularity. With this video, we want to claim, that vernacularity is about the ways of doing, rather than a style. In case of both studios, the role of the leader is the same as in a medieval atelier.
