The videos of collective human gatherings are interrupted by an actual drone that has sensors attached to it and influences the flocking of the virtual drones. As this interaction subsides, the human with bird wings descends back to earth and creates a diamond that envelopes the entire space.
This is a site specific (Large Space) and habitat specific art installation by Victoria Vesna in collaboration with evolutionary biologist Charles Taylor, physicist Takashi Ikegami in the EMP largest virtual reality space in the world designed by engineer Hiroo Iwata. Bird songs were provided by Dr. Reiji Suzuki from University of Nagoya.
EMP graduate students collaborated on the development of this event: (Aisen Carolina Chacin, 3rd year; Masa Jazbec, 3rd year; Hikaru Takatori, 2nd year; Takeru Oozu, 1st year)
