This was an impromptu test of the eMotimo Spectrum one afternoon on Mt. Tam above the Bay Area.
First thing to note is the excessive amount of sensor dust. Please ignore the annoying black spots. Gotta love mirrorless cameras…
This was ALL live control via the PS4 remote. The remote is super intuitive and makes controlling the unit very user friendly.
Anyways, this was a test of extremes for the spectrum. We put the sigma 150-600 to test how well this rig can handle long focal lengths. You’ll notice there is some slight shaking while doing pans with live control. This was due to wind and the lens stabilization being turned off. We wanted to test the unit in its most raw form. We noticed there was shake if you simply walked on the concrete slab we had the unit on. Everything is super sensitive when pushing out that far.
Conclusion, the live action felt pretty good but can be improved, if you really need longer lens control, heavier tripods / lens mounts will help. Find a wind blind as the amount of surface area is huge on large lenses. The good - Spectrum real time control was intuitive and we fine tuned some modes for the future too. Overall this unit shows huge potential and with a few more iterations of firmware we will fine tune this thing to be able to do more than any other motion control gear can do on the market for under 10K.
