In March 2010 a small group from an Oldham arts organisation - Peshkar Productions - travelled to Bangladesh to research the effects of Climate Change and develop links for long-term projects with agencies across the country. We spoke to theatre groups in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet, visited British Council sponsored refugee initiatives and interviewed fishermen, refugees, ordinary people, toki, govt. ministers and climate change champions.
The work we undertake in the UK is with difficult to engage groups - using theatre and media to address otherwise problematical issues. This trip was to help us to find ways to provide resources for the Bangladeshi people and extend our work with our domestic groups to include relevant and informed projects about Climate Change.
The long interview we had with leaders of this community will be available elswhere/when.
Note : These are notebook videos - Lo-res, often rough and ready, edited only to remove the flab - illustrating the journey and our reactions to it.
