On Tuesday, September 7, 2010, The Challenge for the Fishermen's Cup began with a 6-7 am rolling start in Gloucester, MA. The small fleet of traditional gaff-rigged schooners sailed 43 nautical miles to Provincetown, MA competing for the Fishermen's Cup.
Captain of the Fishermen’s Cup Race, Dr. Cheryl Andrews said, “It was a surprising upset. Captain Bruce Davies and Schooner Estrela, the smallest Schooner in the race at a sparred length of 56 feet, came in first with the best-corrected time of 6 hours, 4 minutes and 49 seconds. Schooner Adventurer with Captain Mark Faulstick came in second and Schooner Alabama with Captain Ian Ridgeway placed third.
