Sousa Mendes visa recipient Elza Weinman née Moed describes her early life in Antwerp. She narrates her family's exodus to La Panne, Paris, Bordeaux, Hendaye, through Spain, and to Portugal. She describes her mother's experience obtaining the Sousa Mendes visas at the Portuguese Consulate in Bordeaux. She discusses the saga of the vessel SS Quanza, whose passengers were forbidden from disembarking until Eleanor Roosevelt personally intervened.
