Hera Ólafsdóttir has a BA degree in Theatre studies from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and a Masters degree in Directing from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK. She has also been based in other countries, i.a. in the United States, France, Italy and Sweden, and been involved in arts, technical drawing, interior design, and music.
Since 2004 Hera has worked as a TV and film producer and director, both independently and for production companies such as Storm, Sagafilm and Sögn/Blueeyes Productions. She has worked in films such as "Children", "Parents" and "White Night Wedding" and in a number of commercials, TV series, music videos and promotional films. Hera has also a carreer in theater, both as a director and producer, and staged and produced shows, e.g. in Tjarnarbíó, Gamla Bíó, The National Theater and The Reykjavík City Theater in Iceland, in Clurman Theatre, Off-Broadway N.Y, USA, as well as in Germany and Finland. Hera is currently involved in music and published her first solo album in December 2009.
Hera began teaching at the Icelandic Film School in the fall of 2008. A year later she was offered the job as Head of the Directing and Producing Department.
