DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE MARCH FOR WOMEN’S HOUSING
In response to the persistent violence of poverty and homelessness, women in the Power of Women Group of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre are organizing the “4th Annual March For Women’s Housing” to demand safe and long-term affordable housing October 2, 2010. (From Media Advisory)
March started 2:00pm from DTES Women's Centre with Gastown stops at Gassy Jack statue and Hamilton & Water in Gastown, then Victory Square, Woodward's, Carnegie and more.
Would need more time to put this together better and with some narrative. This is quick and dirty crash edit for immediate to give a small taste and light feel for the march. Had to go after Main and Hastings stop so no visuals from front of the Main Street police station and after. I spent some time in CRAB park in the morning hence the opening and closing. Felt it was appropriate. Appreciate input here.
Shot on Zoom Q3 Handy Video Recorder. Downloaded, packaged and uploaded by HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop with AVS Editor software from home. Completed in three hours after long dinner party and not much sleep due to the early DTES Neighbourhood Council meeting today so we could participate in the march. Glad I did.
