I saw him sitting on a bench outside of his old restaurant, formerly Pete's Lunch [before that The Black Horse Restaurant], now the Holliston Grill, a little after midnight. I was driving home from a friend's house. I drove by a second time to make sure it was him, Pete. It was. I had my camera equipment with me and decided this had potential for another Two Minute Portrait. It's not often you see people sitting outside on benches in the small town of Holliston after 8pm, let alone midnight. But he said he did it often, when the weather is nice. He'll stay out there for an hour or so, occasionally waving to familiar passerby's.
"My past is long, but my future's short," he says as he stares off at the motionless square. Perhaps to him it is not motionless. Perhaps to him he sees the 60 years of change flash before him in the hour he is on the bench.
