The California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) advises homeowners to use Hose Bibb vacuum breakers providing backflow prevention to avoid dirty water from entering and contaminating the potable (drinking) water system.
In California, Spring is in the air most of the year. New pools are under construction or newly painted patio furniture is underway. Outside faucets can get bumped or broken off in the process and without Hose Bibb vacuum breakers resulting in water contamination.
