Tuberculosis is the second deadliest infection after HIV worldwide. It causes disease in 9 million people and 1.5 million deaths per year. TB is not just a problem of the past, or of people living in resource-poor areas. In London, for example, there were more than 2,500 new cases of TB last year, and in certain hot spots rates are higher than in many African countries. TB doesn’t respect borders or social divisions; it can affect anyone.
