An Evil Exchange
Monday, September 27, 2010
A patient and loving God sent Jeremiah to the Nation of Israel to plead with them concerning their sin and playing the role of a harlot. The Lord had led them as a guiding Shepherd through the wilderness into a plenteous land and they had forsaken Him for other gods. Israel as a nation had forgotten the great benefits of God much like America has today. We will look at this prophetic message and see its close relativity to our own unfaithfulness as a people who have forsaken our Godly foundations. We will see how a departure from our early beginnings to where we are today has left us spiritually impoverished. This is exactly what had happened to Israel when God told Jeremiah to deliver this message. They had exchanged the glory of God for emptiness and brokenness. We will understand from the text that the Lord was Reminiscing, Reviewing and Reproving in His plea to those He called His own.
All nations that forget God shall be turned into hell. The Church must separate itself from those who seek to trespass and forsake the one true God. Israel refused to do so and entered into the enslavements of Babylon. America will not be left without judgment for its harlotry. My prayer today is that you will examine your own self to see if you are truly in the faith. It is paramount to know that you are a member of a “holy nation” and not just a nation. Do you know that God has saved and sanctified you that you might reflect His glory? Do you find that you are still conquered by sin and temptation? Are you a slave to other gods or do you live in the freedom of Christ? Have you truly repented of sin and received Christ by faith? Is He Savior and Lord or do you have an evil exchange? As we seek to answer these questions I desire that God the Holy Spirit speak to our hearts today through His precious Word!
