The 2016 Antarctic 100k took place on January 21st at Union Glacier, Antarctica. Clear skies and temperatures of -10 C greeted the eight competitors in the world's southernmost ultra marathon, although wind gusts of 30 knots hit the course on occasion. Griff Griffith (USA) was a convincing winner of the men's race, leading for start to finish, to come home in a time of 12:18:40 hrs. William Gargiullo (SUI) was second in 14:17:37 hrs with Dave Dudek (USA) a close third in 14:25:28 hrs. Angela Chong (SIN) was the sole female contestant, successfully finishing in 21:11:09 hrs.
