The Troop is a Royal Premiered film, a cinematic evocation of The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery (the British Army's ceremonial saluting battery).
Shot in widescreen Panavision by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Alex Thomson BSC ('Legend', 'Excalibur', 'Hamlet'), The Troop also features the voice of Sir John Mills (Oscar-winner for 'Ryan's Daughter'), and a sweeping musical score, written by Julian Scott and performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Following its Royal premiere at BAFTA in September 1999, Her Majesty The Queen requested a loan copy of the film to screen to her Christmas guests at Sandringham.
In 2017, with film presentation becoming largely obsolete, Glory Film Co. is working with the Academy in Hollywood (oscars.org) to digitise and restore TheTroop film using ACES (the Academy Color Encoding System).
