Beginning early in the year the weather shoots up a number of degrees in North Carolina and before the rain falls the humidity rises to a soup you might wade through. Everything slows down and the idea of turning on hot lights in a tiny room becomes a daunting proposition.
We shifted this session into the front room which is a tad less claustrophobic.
Many thanks to Jaime and our friends from HGTR for this recommendation.
So here they are. The Smart Brothers. Not to be confused with the 1950's R&B act, The Smart Brothers Band performing somewhere in our apartment.
About the Smart Brothers:
THE SMART BROTHERS Jay and Lou Smart are two brothers from California who have been traveling around the country for the past few years living lives full of the sort of adventures you’d expect from a couple of young, fun-loving traveling singers. Drawing on a rich heritage of roots music reminiscent of Bob Dylan and the Everly Brothers, the loveable Americana sound of the Smart Brothers will transport you to faraway places that maybe aren’t so far away after all. The boys have played colleges and festivals from coast to coast and have shared the stage with such notable acts as Matt Costa, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Roger Clyne. Featuring raw, beautiful brothers’ harmony, award-winning songwriting, and a captivating live show, don’t miss the Smart Brothers when they are singing in your town.
Per the San Diego Reader:
The Smart Brothers were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2008 San Diego Music Awards and Best Acoustic Act at the 2009 Awards.
